PENGGUNAAN METODE PEMBELAJARAN KOOPERATIF TIPE STAD DALAM MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI BAHASA INGGRIS FKIP UR DALAM MATA KULIAH GRAMMAR

Abstract


This research is based on the fourth semester students’ low grades in grammar quizespecially about nouns. This research is aimed to describe the improvement of the fourthsemester students’ mastery in grammar through cooperative learning method type STAD.This is Classroom Action Research, in this research the data was collected by using grammartest, observation sheet and field note. The subject of this research is twenty students ofEnglish Department in semester IV, Faculty of Teaching and Education, University of Riau.In the first cycle, there are still five students (25%) at the level of “Poor to Average” and onestudent at the level of “Poor”. In the second cycle, there is still one student who is still atlevel “Poor to Average” which none of them (0%) who is at the level of “Poor”. In thestudent observation sheet, in the first cycle, only six students (30%) who respond thelecturer’s explanation. In the second cycle, it improved drastically (16 students,80%). Thenumber of students who quiz his/her friends is 11 students in the first cycle (55%) and thenumber increased drastically (19 students, 95%) in the second cycle. In short, there has beenhigh improvement of learning outcome both quantitatively and qualitatively in grammarthrough the cooperative learning type STAD.
