PEMANFAATAN POTENSI TANDAN KOSONG KELAPASAWIT SEBAGAI KARBON AKTIF UNTUK PEMBERSIHAIR LIMBAH AKTIVITAS PENAMBANGAN EMAS
Abstract
The usage of biomass as activated carbon for waste water cleaning aplication can be fabricatedwith a combine of the activation and carbonization method. Activated carbon was made from oilpalm empty fruit bunches (EFB) by the some processing stage cobs into carbon pellets form, thenthe carbonization process was carried out at a temperature of 800 0C in the pressure of nitrogen(N2). Chemical activation used KOH solutation as activator. Scanning Electron Microscopies(SEM) methode was used to analyze the structure and surface morphology of activated carbon ofpellets EFB. While the composition of chemical elements onto the sample that was analyzed byusing Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX). Activated carbon adsorption ability test for heavy metals byusing Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). Based on the EDX spectra indicate thepresence of the elements carbon (C) 79.79%, while the maximum contamination of Fe 2.36% and0.61% Zn. Based on the Measuring of adsorpsion of heavy metal by SSA that showed the optimumadsorption of Fe 78.52% and Zn 77.23% , due to the results show that the activated carbon pelletEFB have a high adsorption of the heavy metals of iron (Fe).
