Efek Hipolipidemik Air Perasan Umbi Bawang Merah(Allium ascalonicum L.) pada Mencit Putih (Mus musculus)

Abstract

The high level of cholesterol in blood circulation are strongly associated with progression of atherosclerosis and leadsto coronary heart disease. One of that hypothetically can decrease total cholesterol level is shallot (Allium ascalonicumL.). This research was designed to assess the effect on total cholesterol level by giving shallot’s extortion water to whitemice. Groups with treatment consist of yolks group, and shallot extortion water that have been divided to three treatmentlevel: 20%, 40% and 80%. Simvastatin and aquadest were separately used as positive and negative control. The measuredparameter was total of cholesterol level on white mice’s plasma at the end of treatment. This study showed thatshallot’s extortion water had an effect to decrease the total of cholesterol level of white mice’s plasma by using 80%level at the best.
