Abstract

The research was motivatedby the food situation in Riau province that relies heavily on the distribution of food from outsidethe region and even abroad main staple foods such as rice and other carbohydrate sources. Theresearch was conducted at the National Food Security Riau Province with the internal speakers ofthe Food Security Agency Riau and other competent parties in this matter. Data was collectedthrough interviews and documentation were then analyzed using descriptive techniques. Theresults of this study indicate that the Food Security Agency Riau Province has been working toimprove food security in the province of Riau through various strategic programs contained in theRencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Daerah (RPJMD). Efforts undertaken include coordinationamong local institutions associated with increased local food security, food security condition datainventorying, distribution of food between regions, accelerating diversification of food consumption,handling areas of food insecurity, institutional food security, empowerment barns.
