PENGGUNAAN KELOMPOKINVESTIGASITERHADAP KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA JURNAL MAHASISWAS1 PRODI BAHASA INGGERIS FKIP UNIVERSITAS RIAU
Abstract
Group Investigation is an organizational approach that allows a class to workactively and collaboratively in small groups and enables students to take an active role indetermining their own learning goals and processes. Group Investigation method is a kindof cooperative learning that will be applied in teaching this research. The research designis a single subject experiment. The data collection techniques is pre test and post test. Theresearch objectivesis to know the difference students’ reading ability toward Journal afterand before applying Group Investigation method at English Department FKIP URPekanbaru. The participants were 38 students of the fifth semester S1 program academicyear 2011-2012. The research result can be briefly explained as follows: First, thestudents’ reading ability toward Journal could be improved by using GroupInvestigationmethod. Before the research was done, the average score of the studentsreading ability toward Journal was only 70.47. After the research done it improved to77.4. Second, the students’ interest and motivation improved also. These can be seenfrom the increasing of students’ awareness in comprehending the text. GroupInvestigation method can improve students’ reading ability. Third, in teaching learningprocess - students can work together, discuss, share information, mutual understanding,as well as give mutual sport to get the objectives. Forth, the lecturer was able to applyGroup Investigation method to make the teaching process effective.
