FENOMENA ARUS EDDY PADA PLAT ALUMUNIUMMENGGUNAKAN SOLENOID BERBENTUK BALOK

Abstract


The study is to observe the phenomenon of the eddycurrent in aluminum plate and coil shaped a solenoidbeam has done.Eddy current phenomenon is generated in the aluminum plate with a size of 6 x 10 cm andextended with a20 cm lenght of stick. The source of the magnetic field is generated by a pair ofsolenoidconnected in series and parallel combination. The solenoid was designed in from of beamwiththe width, high, and lengthof 4,4,10 cm respectively. In order to increment the magnetic field strength ofthe solenoids it is necessary to insert a ferromagnetic material such as a iron into the solenoid.Aluminium plate used was designed in four models that is with onestrip, three strips, four strips and nostrip. The magnetic field strength is measured using Pasco PS-2162 Magnetic Probe in horizontal andvertical direction to the solenoid by varying the distance and magnitude of applied current. The resultshow that thehighest value of magnetic field (40.1535 mT)was produced when the solenoid wereconnected in series connectionwith current of 7A.Eddy currents arising in the plate is affected by themagnitude of the magnetic field strength and the numbers of strips in the plate. The larger the magneticfield strength, the smaller the number of oscillations. Moreover, the number of oscillation of the plate isdecreased when the number of strips is increased. The decreasedof this oscillation as due to the cut ofeddy current by the strips. To compare the influence of a magnetic field strength of the oscillation of theplate, then Neodymium Iron Boron magnets used as the source of the magnetic field and the result showsthat oscillation was significant decreased.
