Penentuan Konsentrasi Hambat Minimal dan Konsentrasi BunuhMinimal Larutan Povidon Iodium 10% Terhadap StaphylococcusAureus Resisten Metisilin (MRSA) dan Staphylococcus AureusSensitif Metisilin (MSSA)
Abstract
Povidone iodine was usually used as topical antiseptic in surgery. Povidone iodine 10% could decreased bacteriapopulation until 85%. This was used to decreased nosocomial infections after surgery. With discovering of genes thatinvolved in antiseptic resistancy occurs a doubt on the effectiveness of povidone iodine 10%. This was descriptiveresearch to find out the Minimal Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimal Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) forMethicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Methicillin-Sensitive Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) in MicrobiologyLaboratory Faculty of Medicine University of Riau. This research shows that povidone iodine MIC for MRSA was0.006% while for MSSA was 0.003% and povidone iodine MBC for MRSA was 0.012% while for MSSA was 0.006%.From this research we can conclude that MRSA more resistant than MSSA against povidone iodine .
