MANAJEMEN PENGEMBANGAN PARIWISATA DAERAH

Abstract

This research is based on the development of tourism in South Tapanuli Regency which
still get less attention from Local Government, tourism development policies are not prioritized in the
middle of tourism potential in South Tapanuli Regency is very promising and the tourists interest is
also quite high. Apart from that part of society including managers and communities who expect the
impact of tourism development quite a lot, which is expected to improve the welfare of the community.
This research uses qualitative research methods, data collection method is done by interview and
observation through field research. The results showed that (i) Tourism development in South
Tapanuli region has not been maximized by South Tapanuli Regency Government. Local governments
have not been able to conceptualize tourism development. Tourism has not become a priority scale
of the South Tapanuli regency. Lack of policy from the local government resulted in the development
of tourism does not develop maximally. (ii) obstacles faced in tourism development in South Tapanuli
namely, lack of human resources in tourism, inability of local executives in utilizing their power for
tourism development, financing of tourism development is still minimal.
