KETERWAKILAN ETNIS DALAM KEPEMIMPINAN POLITIK PASCA ORDE BARU
Abstract
This article aims to study the ethnic representationDayak and Malay in leadership in West Kalimantan Barat post New Order regime by utilizingqualitative approach. In addition, the data for this study is based on primary and secondary data.The primary data obtained through in-depth interviews with selected informants. While thesecondary data obtained from books, journals and newspapers. This writing used the conceptualframework of Lijphart (1984) on consociation democracy, and Gurr (1994) on ethno politic andinstrumentalism approach. The study found some important factors that influence the emergence ofidentity politics in West Kalimantan, namely structural factors, political conditions, unbalancedrepresentation of political and ethnic stereotypes. However, political factors and unbalanced ethnicrepresentation in power are the main causes of the emergence of identity politics. The results alsoshow that the occurrence of ethnic identity politics and religion has influence on the shape ofpolitical representation in West Kalimantan.
