MANFAAT MODEL PEMBELAJARAN KOPERATIF JIGSAW DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA MAHASISWA PRODI BAHASA INGGRIS FKIP UR
Abstract
This research aimed at describing and testing whether cooperative learning typeJigsaw method can increase students' reading ability at English Department FKIP URPekanbaru. The participants were 25 students of the first semester 51 Program Class Bacademic year 201,0-201 1. The data collection techniques used consisted of observation,field note, interview, and tests. The research result can be briefly explained as follows:First, the students' reading ability could be improved by using cooperative learning typeJigsaw method. Before the research was done, the average score of the students readingability was only 61.75. After the research done for cycle 1, it improved to 65.4. Cycle2, it improved to 68.0. Cycle 3, as a post-test it became 73.5. Second, the students'interest and motivation improved also. These can be seen from the increasing ofstudents' awareness in comprehending the text. Cooperative learning type Jigsaw Methodcan improve students' reading ability. Third, in teaching learning process - students canwork together, discuss, share information, mutual understanding as well as give mutualsport to get the objectives. Forth, the lecturer was able to apply cooperative leaningtype Jigsaw method to make the teaching process effective.
