ANALISIS PENGEMBANGAN PRODUK INDUSTRI KECIL SEBAGAI STRATEGI MENGHADAPI PERSAINGAN BISNIS (KASUS INDUSTRI KERAJINAN ROTAN, RUMBAI, PEKANBARU)
Abstract
Small industrial sector is one of the economic sectors that have the potential to thrive in the area of Pekanbaru Riau in general and in particular, which are small rattan craft industry. The opening business opportunities and easy entry of new competitors in the business of rattan has put an increasingly competitive business position. Theoritically, creative entrepreneurs who created the product development strategy is considered able to retain and win business competition rattan. This study was conducted with the intention to portray and describe the implementation of rattan product development efforts as a strategy to face competition. The respondents were entrepreneurs Rumbai furniture makers in the region, data collection techniques using a structured questionnaire and data analysis using descriptive statistics. From the results of the study found the overall product development strategy is not effective, the effort produces rattan products are diverse (different), modify the handicraft products, produce rattan products are limited and produce different handicrafts products for specific consumer groups. Group of employers who are less effective implement product development due to the limited ability of entrepreneurs rattan craftsmen in terms of capital and business experience. While the group has been effectively carry out product development and capital characterized as having a better experience or insufficient.
