THE IMPROVEMENT OF STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC READING AND WRITING ABILITY USING COOPERATIVE INTEGRATED READING AND COMPOSITION (CIRC) MODEL

Abstract


The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the application of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) could improve the students’ learning process in Academic Reading and Writing course. The subjects were the fourth semester of the academic year students of 2018/2019. The research tried to investigate students’ writing summary to the article they read. The Pre test was conducted before the treatment. The classroom action research method used in two cycles, each cycle has two meetings. The  study was stopped when the improvement in learning outcomes occured in the second cycle.  Moreover, different ways of group division in each cycle also affected students learning outcomes.
